Barnes & Associates independent arboricultural consultants - leading the way Ian Barnes – Arboricultural Association Registered Arboricultural Consultant

About Us

Barnes & Associates began independent trading in 1996; created in response to a need for advice in modern tree care management techniques in both the domestic and commercial sectors.

Our lead consultant is Ian Barnes he is a Arboricultural Assocation Registered Consultant, Professional Member of the Consulting Arborist Society, TrustMark Approved Tree Consultant along with being a Chartered Environmentlaist.

He is assisted by Sue Barnes who is a Fellow of the Arboricultural Assocation and  also a Chartered Enviornmentalist.

Our advisory service has evolved to cover large projects, including development site assessment and management, planning authority surveys, complex planning applications and appeals, in addition to other areas of arboricultural expertise.

We have strived to develop a holistic approach to tree management through detailed tree survey /assessment programmes, which allow for the sympathetic and economical retention of tree cover where appropriate.

The management of trees within development sites is a major sector of our work. Through consultation with architects, engineers and planners, we can assist in the safer retention of trees allowing developments to blend in with the environment surrounding them - thus minimising their impact upon the broader landscape, significantly increasing their market value.

We provide specialist decay assessments of trees using state of the art technology, Picus Sonic Tomography, Picus Treetronic, working with many tree owners to ‘save trees’.

Information on the Picus assessment methods and equipment is available on the news article pages.

We provide a national service, though most of our work is based in Yorkshire and Humberside.
