Veteran Trees

Ancient Trees

Barnes & Associates are actively involved in the safeguarding of ancient trees by providing ancient and veteran tree management reports and surveys.

We are involved in the collection of data for these important trees utilising the Specialist Survey Method (SSM) which as been adopted by major tree owners such as National Trust, Local Authorities and the Woodland Trust along with many others involved in the management of veteran trees.

Barnes & Associates are well established in providing sepecialist decay assessments with the aim of protecting trees from removal, using state of the art equipment Picus Tomograph/ Treetronic and more recently Thermal camera with sepcilaist tree software (TTMS) enabling whole tree assessment.

Barnes & Associates can provide individual tree inspections and management plans to enable the long term management of these important historical trees.

We can provide specification for tree works to veteran trees and contractor supervision when necessary, to ensure the future longevity of these monumental trees.

We can survey fallen and standing deadwood, which can be as important as a ‘living tree’ by providing specific habitats for rare beetles, larvae and numerous animals.

Assessment for signs of insect and animal species associated with veteran trees by specialists in their field can be undertaken.

Ancient trees are important historically and may be land marks in their own right; we strive to support owners of such trees with bespoke packages to suit all budgets.

At the present time Britain has more ancient trees than many other European countries, we can help you to look after your piece of history.
