The Electronic Impedance Tomogram

More information in the PDF.
The Picus Treetronic is a measuring device that uses electric current / voltage measurements to calculate a map of the electrical resistivity of the cross section of a tree. The electrical resistance (or in other words, the ability of the wood to transmit electric current) depends on the moisture content, cell structures, and amount of elements present. All these properties change if decay is in the tree.
Assessment by means of Sonic tomograms (SoT) and Electrical Impedance tomograms (EIT), provides detailed information upon the internal structure and activity of decay fungi – which allows a comparison of actual moisture patterns against those forecasted. In combination, these provide a greater level of understanding of a trees condition, which allows appropriate management to be specified.

The treetronic is allowing tree root damage to be determined / located in certain circumstances when used in combination with the Picus sonic tomogram, a very useful tool.
